Iran troupe is set to stage musical play based on cinematic version of the Charles Dickens novel ‘Oliver Twist’.
According to a local media report released Thursday, the ‘Oliver Twist’ musical directed by Hossein Parsaei will be staged next month with 150 stage actors and musical player.
The musical will be performed Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.
Before his latest musical, the director has been at the helm of theatrical presentations such as ‘Read this Chapter with Me’, ‘Yalda’, The Long Qasida Poem of Rain’ and ‘Raving’.
English writer and social critic Dickens novel follows the story is of the orphan Oliver Twist, who is born in a workhouse and is then sold into apprenticeship with an undertaker.
'Oliver Twist' (1948) film directed by David Lean is a British film adaptation of Charles Dickens novel of the same name. 'Oliver!' is also an English musical with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. The musical is based on the same novel.
